Which pump should you use for your project?

The main purpose of a pump is to transport a liquid through a suction pipe driven by a motor that, by activating a turbine, manages to suck liquids and then expel them through a delivery pipe. Its operation may seem simple at first glance, however, there is a teamwork for the pumping system to work in the best way.

At the time of choosing it, it becomes a bit complex to understand which one is the best for our project, since each pump has its specialties and we will talk about that today.

Which pump to choose for your project? Stay here because we will tell you some points that will help you choose the pump that best suits your aspirations.

Consideration of type of pump

To know the correct type and model, we will start by determining what use we will give to the pump, then we should consider the technical characteristics of it. First, we must know the pressure, power and flow rate in relation to the water that is intended to be sucked. There are other points that we should keep in mind before our purchase:

  • Degree of difficulty to extract the liquid
  • Amount of liquid that needs to be extracted
  • Type and characteristics of the substances to be extracted

Types of pumps

Let’s learn a little more about some types of pumps and their uses:

Submersible suction pumps

When there are floods or we need to extract liquids from depths, this type of pump is ideal. This pump should be chosen based on the amount and type of water to be sucked, whether it is clear, gray or black water.

Well pumps

They are used with the purpose of extracting water from wells in order to obtain drinking water. They are installed underwater and are only suitable for pumping clean water.

Surface pumps

This type of pump allows to suck rainwater or wells to depths of 7 meters allowing the extraction of the liquid which can then be used for other purposes such as irrigating gardens and all this due to the special suction tube it has.

Autoclave pumps

These types of pumps can be automatic or semi-automatic.

They specialize in increasing the water pressure in a system. Among their functions is to supply water services located on the upper floors, this in order to ensure optimal water flow and pressure.

Motor pumps

These pumps are perfect for uses where there is no access to electricity and work optimally in use with high intensity. Depending on the model, they can be equipped with 4-stroke and 2-stroke gasoline engines.

Pumps for special liquids

As their name implies, this type of pumps has been created and perfectly designed to suck food liquids, such as wine, oil and more.

To conclude, choosing a pumping system without first evaluating the quality of water to be sucked can have negative consequences on our projects, due to a possible malfunction of the motor. We recommend you to take into consideration the reach, pressure, dominance, as well as the delivery height and suction height of the pump. Follow us on Facebook!
